Genevieve - Chocolate Retriever
Directed by Paige Meakin - 2024
Armature
Gen’s armature was made with polycarbonate hips and wrists and an epoxy chest. The hips had two ports that were tensioned with 4/40 set screws for her legs to plug in. She also had three 10/24 ports for a fly rig. The wrists were made with polycarbonate with 4/40 lock nuts epoxied in to tension the hand armature to the body.
Mold Making
Since Gen’s body was cast in foam and her limbs were cast in plasticine clay, she needed two different types of molds. The body needed a two part plaster mold. All of the molds for her limbs were two part silicone molds.
Clay Casting
Gen’s limbs were made by melting plasticine clay in a double boiler and pouring it around the armature in the silicone mold. The molds were them pressed together to squeeze out any excess clay. The molds were then placed in a refrigerator to cool before being demolded and cleaned.
